So, I've been attending MIPIM uk property event today at Olympia MIPIM is all about regen and inward investment. Outside there are 500 demonstrators rioting for reasons best known to themselves. I have no idea why, what they're trying to achieve or what.....I also don't like manure being thrown at me and my taxi....although had they have listened to my guitar demos and then thrown manure, I could have understood it....

Apparently they're unhappy about the sell off of social housing and NHS land to companies who want to build expensive houses that people who already live in London can't afford.

Whether true or not, that would be their reasoning. Regeneration of housing is nice, but *if* social housing is being replaced by housing that the average Londoner can't afford it's fairly easy to see why they might be unhappy...

They should realise that the majority of people coming to that event are absolutely committed to affordable housing under Section 106 agreements. To be physically attacked because I'm going to work is quite shaking.

I'd add that they were chanting "We have a right to be housed by the council"

I actually disagree with that totally FWIW.
