How Clapton boosted his solos in Cream...

I didn't know this but he let it slip in a recent video. I'd always assumed he did it old school with the guitar volume knob.

2 x 100 watt Marshalls behind him on stage.
He'd use one normally and then turn on the other as well for his solos.

That's one way of doing it I guess.
Anyone know how he went about doing that? - box on the floor or something?

Maybe if you stomped on the blokes toe he would then know when to put it in and pull it out.

Personally I favour 6dB boost for solos. So I think that would require two more 100W Marshalls, if I recall my dB scale correctly
