Anyone have any recommendations for sourcing a box and packaging for shipping a standard sized valve amp ?

Already asked local guitar shop...don't mind spending some money ordering something as I want it to be safe.

Sure this has come up before - I can't find a thread.

Thanks

Not sure there is such thing as a standard size valve amp!

If you’ve already contacted your local music store, perhaps Facebook marketplace? I picked up some guitar boxes in my area for a few quid.

  • B&Q sell large packing boxes and rolls of bubble wrap. You could easily make up a box with plenty of packaging this way.

Head or combo? No, no standard box but I would suggest several layers of bubble wrap then cardboard and a tape gun loaded with "Fragile" tape.
If a valve amp, and the recipient is cute enough, I would remove all the valves and BWrap them separately...BUT include instructions for their correct re-insertion!

Thank you everyone - I forgot to mention it's a head...yes will remove the valves.
    I'll try B&Q later.
    Thank you

    Thank you

We have a couple of "RockBotton" type shops here where you can find wrap, tape and guns a LOT cheaper than B&Q. Corry cardboard, I don't know.

My normal method is to buy a new amp and use the box to ship the old one...

    Time to go shopping!

Double boxing may be a good idea if it's possible.

If you're sending it with Parcelforce, this is especially recommended as they tend not to be so precious with "box shaped" items.

Sounds like LOL material, but I’ve done it myself many more times than I can count.

Thanks again. All sorted. Got hold of a couple of boxes and a load of wrap. Should do the trick.
Yes, I did consider a new amp it doesn't take a lot of persuasion.
    Cheers
