Same here, ..... and that's coming from a Liverpool fan
Another brilliant player and great ambassador for the game gone.
RIP Sir Bobby and thanks for 1966.
As for "when am I ready?" You'll never be ready. It works in reverse, you become ready by doing it. - pmbomb
Difficult for Sir Alex Ferguson I guess. Recently lost his wife and now this.
RIP Sir Bobby, just Sir Geoff Hurst surviving from the WC team now I believe.
Quote from Beckenbauer about the 1966 final:
"[Charlton] was the engine of the England game. In this game I realised how difficult it is to follow him and to mark him because in my opinion, in 1966 in the World Cup, he was the best player in the world."
I have happy memories of being taken to Man U games as a 10 year old at various London clubs by my sister back in the mid to late 60's.
I was fortunate enough to have met and spoken to Sir Bobby (along with Bestie) after a game at Chelsea as they left the ground. He was really friendly and approachable and was happy to spend a short time to speak to me, along with other fans crowding around the team coach.
As a kid I worshipped him and dreamed that one day I could emulate him and play for Man U.
RIP
