Definitely super cool (unlike Samuel L. in the remake).   RIP.

Are they still allowed to show Shaft on TV?  It must come with a “this film has outdated attitudes, language and cultural depictions which may cause offence today” disclaimer.

Oh no.  I missed this.  LOVED the original Shaft (and definitely not the SLJ version which was frankly awful).  R was indeed super cool.  I'll have to dig it out and re-watch.

This music was used by nearly every magician,illusionist etc in the 70s & 80s 
  I remember it being on the radio when I was at infants school.
