Jura vs Old Pulteney

What's Hot
I'm going with Old Pulteney. The Jura is a bit more....no, wait......oh, fuck, forget I posted, they're both gorgeous.

Both are great but old poultney for me, unless you throw in some monkey shoulder, then it's game over for the old poultney...... and me :-)

You're going for the Monkey Shoulder? I haven't tried it, but will do so.

    Laphroaig for the win!

All personal taste, of course, but I'd never start with the Laphroaig - you couldn't taste anything else afterwards!

@chillidoggy, which Jura are we on?  I've got Superstition and Origin here...

+ Highland Park is nicely smoky if you like that sort of thing
"Working" software has only unobserved bugs. (Parroty Error: Pieces of Nine! Pieces of Nine!)

Slight hangover. Mrs was totally munted and giggly, but I was too far gone to take advantage.

Anyway, Jura Superstition is what I had. I'm not a lover of the heavily peated stuff, and that was a very nice drop of gear.

@chillydoggy, get some monkey shoulder in, really lovely taste, and the bottle has 3 metal monkeys on it so you know it's good, :-)

    Is it heavily peated, though?

@chillidoggy, no but does taste really rich,, some pubs i have been to sell it but that's the problem with whiskey, you have to spend a fair amount of dough on a dram, which you might not like the taste of, im lucky I have a pub which specialises in whiskey so I can always try before I buy,

Old Pulteney for me, although I wouldn't say no to most bar Talisker. Really can't get on with that stuff.

Most seem to believe that if Talisker ain't your bag then neither will Laphroaig, but I totally disagree. It isn't the best to start a night/lunch/breakfast (delete as appropriate) but it's certainly delicious at the right time.

As a proud Scotman, can I also ask if anyone else has drank much Yamazaki before?

I like them strong and peaty.

But to be honest I have never met a decent malt I wouldn't drink.

  • I've had a japanese whisky but not sure of it was Yamazaki. It was fuckign foul though.

This advert for Haig Club is on TV constantly at the minute. What kind of incentive do I have to buy it now that David Beckham has entered the advertising campaign for them? Meh.
