I’ve been mulling this over for a few weeks and I’ve decided there’s no harming in sticking this out there and seeing what comes up.

Up for trade (and for sale now) is an early 1965 Gibson ES-355

Being an early ‘65 it’s a wide nut, it’s also factory mono and has early PAFs. There is plenty of info out there about how Gibson made a whole stash of gold PAFs in the earlier 60s and as these weren’t used as much as nickel, lasted them into the mid to later 60s.

One of the PAF covers looks like it’s been removed at one point (before my ownership).

As stated this is factory mono and has no breaks or repairs other than a changed tone knob and a refret at Feline with 6150 fret wire.

Oh no, that’s not a stinger is it?

Yes it! But there’s nothing to hide here. It black lights fine with no breaks or repairs.

Comes complete with original hard case

It has THE best neck profile (chunky ‘64) and the PAFs just chime!

I know how/who bought it into the country and the long term owner of it after this was a relatively well known jazz guitarist.

More photos can be found here and can take more for anyone interested.

NO LONGER NEEDING THIS TRADE - What I’m looking for in a trade is a slightly more players grade 335/355 early ‘65 or earlier (so wide nut) with some cash my way on top. Happy to consider breaks, repairs, refins. NO LONGER NEEDING THIS TRAD E

In terms of a trade value. This has sold at ATB in the last month and is a very similar spec albeit stereo

And this sold at No.Tom recently too and was listed at £23k.

With this in mind I’m suggesting a trade/sales value of £19k

I’m based in south west London.

17/12/23 - update to FS as well as trade still. The latter is preferred as per the above trades

23/12/23 - no longer needing an ES trade as sorted. Still for sale and may consider trades to ease the burden of the asking price
