@Wazmeister if you’d said Heston, you’d have had me, but you didn’t. You’ve blown your chance

Has the rear of the neck been checked/lighted by a luthier?

Not by a luthier in my time. I’ve had it under black light alongside some knowledgeable peeps. Happy for any inspection to be undertaken under black light and with a luthier if needed.

  • Love that it's for trade and not for sale. Good to see that GAS never sleeps, whatever the level of attainment.

Haha! It may be an optimistic chance of a trade given the request and the portential reach on this site but you never know.

Might just have to suck it up and offer it for sale in the new year or out for consignment and then start a search afresh!

    We shall see….

I have stuck this on Reverb with the aim of trying to entice a trade from those that may not frequent this site. Being on there it’s technically ‘for sale’ so I suppose, technically, it should be for sale here also.

This came up on my Reverb feed. Seems my 355 may have been around £680 back in ‘65 (struggling to read the fine print)

There’s probably an internet tool around to tell us what £680 is worth in 2023 but sounds like a bargain at the moment!

Ok, I’m sorted for a players grade 60s ES now so don’t need this trade. Given the princely asking price I may consider other trades to help the burden but need a chunk of cash my way. I’m a sucker for old stuff…..

  • $680 not ££s
an SG Standard at the time was $305, so the 355 was pretty expensive

Ah yeah! This would make more sense. No idea what the £/$ exchange rate was back then but if it was $1 to 50p as it was a little while back, this would make it £8k which is Murphy lab territory

  • £1 got you $2.80 in 1965 !

Ok. Late next week I’ll be taking this for a stint in the west end for consignment. It will be a hell of a lot more expensive at this point so if you have any interest in this, message me now!
