1989 Les Paul Standard

Without doubt the best Les Paul i have played in 40 years of playing guitar. From the late 80's, 34 years and playing better than ever (the guitar, not me!)

Reasonably slim neck, very solid guitar and sounds so good. It's not a case queen, but nothing that stops it being played week in, week out. I've owned it 15 years and gigged it. Why wouldn't I, it's the best LP i've played!

Still has the original Tim Lawrence pickups fitted. Paired with a Marshall Jubilee this was my "sound" for years. To me, that is the sound of "guitar rock" and all the bands i grew up listening to.

It has some dents, scratches etc and general wear - check out the photos. It's had a neck repair at some point before i got it. Maybe not pretty, they haven't tried to hide it, but it's so solid - well i've gigged it for years and it's solid!

The set-up and action is also top notch. Action is so low. Upgrades - Tonepros locking bridge and tailpiece. Originals included.

In original case - lock broken but case still solid and latches all work. I have the pickguard too.

It's the guitar I said I'd never sell, but I simply can't play a Les Paul live anymore and it's too good to be sat in a case. You won't find another like this.

£2000 collect/meet-up in the north-east or i may be able to deliver. I will courier it, with Lenspeed Logistics (ex-roadie who does door-to-door).

  • Ooooooh that is sooooo dreamy  1989 too what a great year that was. Bloody shame you can’t keep it . Someone is going to get a superb Guitar . Couldn’t you save it for playing at home ? It would be worth starting a YouTube channel just so you could keep it and play it sitting down. :)

bloody beautiful that is from a great time in history

@hollywoodrox cheers mate. I've got a couple of lighter guitars for that, and a couple of SG's too. I tend to play the guitars at home that i gig with so it wouldn't get much use, it hasn't for the last couple of months.
    You're right though, it's beautiful!

That's what i was looking for at the time! Didn't fancy any of the Slash sigs, would rather have one of the LP from same era. Actually on the photos it still has the new Slash signature pickups. I have the Tim Lawrence pickups stored safely to go back in if it sells.

After listing this on a few Fb groups i've been plagued with scammers, low-ball offers etc seriously 12 messages in the first hour! To hopefully avoid that -

If anyone wants this, £1800 plus postage and it's yours.

Don't be too hasty, I found selling a Les Paul brings me into contact with so many more dickheads than any other kind of guitar. As much as they are beautiful instruments, they also attract a special kind of moron.

Are the pickups the PCB backed ones? They're lovely.

Yeah, i guess after selling a guitar last month and putting this up for sale I just can't believe how many scammers and chancers there are in fb land. A sale on here is much more preferable.

Original circuit board pickups yeah. Lovely. Although the new Slash pickups are in at the moment.

  • Wow I’d have been mega tempted on this exactly one year ago & most probably bought it
Over my AFD Amber . It would be the nearest thing to a Jessica guitar  without spending ridiculous amounts on now over priced  3 piece topped 87 & 88 ones . Not much help to you though but sincere good luck with the sale

If you're happy having a guitar with a repaired neck break, it's an absolute bargain. But honestly, having it up for sale is driving me insane. It's listed on the usual places and I've been swamped since day one with offers -  shipping to Australia, trading for a car, pay half now half in Feb, just unreal. Then people who ask dozens of questions, take up hours of time, and have no interest in actually buying it!

It's why i keep reducing it, it's not healthy to have things up for sale for months! No reasonable offer refused

  • Supes is a great bloke to deal with - he sold me a lovely Marahall amp last week and it arrived in great condition and really well packed . Highly recommended seller as they say on EBay
