I saw a UFO today

...or at least something that looked like a flying saucer, except that it wasn't flying, it was on the back of a low-loader being driven along the M4, covered in a huge tarpaulin.  The weird thing was that the truck had a seriously big police escort - umpteen motorcycle outriders, range rovers etc.  The thing under the tarp was about three times the width of the trailer and where the wind was blowing the tarp against it, you could clearly see there were a series of big intake vents around the perimeter's upper surface.

What on earth (or not!) would justify such a big police presence for an otherwise simple wide load ?

Yeah...  took me 2h30 to get to Bristol (normally 1h45).  I have to get up in a few mins and do it all again.  It's like Groundhog Day.
