FS: Gibson Custom Shop ES-5 Switchmaster (NSFW)

You thought archtops were just for jazz, didn't you? 

You may or may not know this but Frank Zappa's first proper guitar and the one he used to record his first three albums was a Switchmaster ES-5. Curiously, you it can veer into Strat middle position territory with the triple humbucker setup.



This particular guitar was voiced by Philip Whorton, just a year or so before he was appointed director of the newly created Gibson Crimson Custom Shop division (specialised in archtops and responsible for some of the best instruments to ever bear the Gibson name on the headstock). It's in very good overall condition with no significant marks other than the usual pick guard plectrum marks. Very well set up with flat wound Thomastik Infeld strings.

There is one available from Motomusic with some pretty serious looking cracks in the neck joint for £5999 and an older version from the guitar showroom at £5499 or £4999 directly from them.

£5500 based in Swansea, UK. Preference for a sale to replenish funds, but in the off-chance you have one and are willing to part with it, I would be interested in trades for an L-5 or a Byrdland.
