Incredibly brave.  Anyone trying to oppose or stand up to Putin and the Russian state, in whatever way, is pretty much signing their own death warrant.  Navalny would have known he was never going to live to draw a pension, but he went ahead anyway.  RIP.

Putin gets away with murder yet again.
Stalin is famous for saying 1 death is a tragedy, a million is a statistic. It seems putin is intent on carrying out statistics, not tragedies. Hopefully one day he'll face justice (along with so many peddlers of statistics) but I fear not.

I'm not locked in here with you, you are locked in here with me.

There's a video of a Russian woman being arrested and taken away for standing in public with a sign that says 'Alexei Navalny died today' or similar.
What will happen to her? Will she be released or will she just 'disappear'?

The whole situation is both horrific and bizarre.

    RIP Alexei Navalny.

I am thinking of it more and more.
To the point that I actually have an escape plan for getting out of Europe if things turn nasty.

I never thought that would be necessary but I'd be absolutely fucking useless in a war.

She was brave as well. She basically staged a protest all by herself.

I'd like to think she'll be released eventually with a warning akin to "if you care about your family, you'll behave from now on".

I know it's a terrible thing to say but I hope I'm right in the path of the first Russian nuclear warhead, if it comes to that.  I'm not strong enough to live like those poor people in Ukraine and Gaza.  I'd rather just be wiped out of existence, like I was never there.

The courage he had is almost beyond belief. To voluntarily return to a country where he knew imprisonment, probably mistreatment and quite likely death would be the result, with little or no prospect of success in what he was trying to achieve, is something most of us probably can’t understand or imagine doing, even if it’s true that his family in Russia were threatened if he didn’t.

He said himself that his prison sentence was just a number - it was a life sentence, either that of Putin’s regime or his own, and he won’t have been surprised when they killed him.

One day he will be revered as a national hero in Russia.

    RIP :(
