Having picked up a Squier Paranormal tele last year during the Thomaan sale, i’ve finally finished modding it.
This is what i have just finished doing:
Gotoh brass compensated saddles,
Off white vintage style button tuners,
Scratchplate cut by “Tinytone” and a staggered alnico 5 single coil added as the body was already pre-routed, activated via a simple on/off toggle on the control plate.
I’ve kept it as 3 way switch with two push/pull 250k pots, which aside from the added middle single coil gives me:
Volume Push-Pull Down
Bridge
Neck & Bridge in Parallel
Neck
Volume Push-Pull Up:
Bridge
Neck & Bridge in Series
Neck
Tone Push-Pull Down:
Neck Pickup In Phase with Bridge Pickup
Tone Push-Pull Up:
Neck Pickup Out-of-Phase with Bridge Pickup
Have to say, i’m really pleased how its turned out and it sounds great.

One thing that i did notice with the stock wiring was that the bridge pickup black went to the switch whilst the white was grounded - is that correct?
I always thought that the black was ground?
Anyways here are the pics:

In Telecaster bridge pickup wiring, the essential detail is, which conductor wire is connected to the metal baseplate?

If the pickup has no baseplate, the bridge assembly must be grounded independently. The black and white conductors could go either way around. This might help to resolve phase relationship issues.
You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.
