Yes looking forward to the album - much prefer this kind of attitude of music to the 70s funk of the last one (although she did a great job of that too). Great stuff
Please note my communication is not very good, so please be patient with me

Daddys Home is probably my most played album of recent years , not as much a fan of the industrial stuff but hoping it grows on me

There’s not a lot of song in there, but the production and mix are both so great that it more than makes up for it

    Yep exactly.

Can someone explain that to my bandmates when picking covers? I keep having to turn down requests to play really boring stuff that's only tolerable because if clever production which makes it extremely difficult to make them interesting live without backing tracks...

I agree - I am still listening to Daddy's home in its entirety on a regular basis. The concert video thing she made to accompany it is incredible - she plays some of her older 'industrial' style songs in the Daddy's home stye.....they work brilliantly

She's said that she decides upon an aesthetic or a colour and sound palette for each of her records -  but however she chooses to dress them up, underneath are really well written songs.

I really think she is a generational talent. Cant wait to hear the new record

    Are you the singer?
You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.

The reason I asked is because the most important factor in song selection ought to be, can our singer hit those notes?

Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac fame has most of his Turner guitars tuned down at least three semitones because the top end of his vocal range is shot. (This was prior to his surgery in 2019.)

Yeah i’m super aware of that. What’s actually good is we we have 3 singers (plus me) all with different ranges, so we can usually make things work, but still tune a couple of songs down a tone to get them at their best.

What im really taking about here is those songs that are just such great melodies you can play them on a single guitar and voice, vs those (usually pop stuff) that really need the full arrangement with layers of synths and blippybloppy bits for texture and variety through the track. Cos that second category can be really hard to get sounding interesting

The new album is out today. I've had a listen and think it's a good solid record, lots of sounds that I like (albeit very big on the bass frequencies in the production I think?). I'm not sure there's a stand out track as such but it's a good album and some nice synth work as well as good tunes and her usual lyrical style

I'm listening to it right now and enjoying it very much.

Enjoyed that, very talented performer. I get the NIN & industrial influences & I'd throw in some PJ Harvey too.
