Jim Beard R.I.P.

The brilliant American keyboard player Jim Beard died March 5th.  Very sad as he was only 63.
He played/recorded with many big names; John McLaughlin, Scofield, Metheny, Mike Stern, Wayne Shorter, both the Brecker brothers, sax players Bill Evans and Bob Berg...to name a few.  He produced Stern and Berg and made several fine albums under his own name too. McLaughlin opened "Adventures in Radioland" with Beard's composition "The Wait".  In recent years he played keyboards on Steely Dan tours.
Incredibly talented as a player, composer, arranger and producer, he will be - no doubt already is - much missed.
This tribute comes from guitarist Steve Khan -

That is very sad and no age. I saw him with Jon Herington. They were due to tour their Chunks and Chairknobs album but the performance I was at was their last before COVID cancelled their tour.

The list of collaborators speaks volumes

Super sad - passed while literally on tour playing in Steely Dan. Way too young and way too important. :( RIP.
