NGD! Old Les Paul Classic

What's Hot

Worst thing to happen when your not guitar shopping. You see a photo of a guitar that you (even though I have LPs I hardly play) have to buy.
I could see from the few pics itd been played hard but loved for 23 years, so was clearly a player and 3 gigs in,  already has a neck PU tone that is how LPs sound in my head (changed to 57 Classic) Woody and clear P90 like, not muffled like most Necks on LPs. 2001. 9.4lbs Love it. Good wood era? Who knows, but Ive had many many Les Pauls from lowest to 70s and Custom Shop, and this is up there with the best

My 2006 classic is incredible (other than the pickups which I must get round to changing).

They're just proper les pauls and nice to see another plain top :)

The stock bridge one is fine but really hot. I will do something more vintagey with it, but no rush.

Did not know Murphy Lab models were available back then !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously though it looks nice with natural wear n tear - maybe a touch to much on the rear but nice checking on the top

The original 'ceramic' p/ups are to hot for many 'traditional' minded players - Again IMO looks better with covers

    Enjoy

You know it's got to be a good one when it's been played that much. Lovely, congrats!

    That’s lovely.

I loved those old LP classics when they came out , and quite liked the ceramic pickups (but then I was into metal anyway.)
Well done on finding a great guitar to gel with - hope you have fun

Thats lovely, if I could afford a gibbo it would be one of these, plain tops are lush.

Im loving the stock bridge pickup tbh, which according to internet wisdom I shouldnt. Ive done 7 gigs with it so far, and Im liking it better than any historic Ive had.

Just goes to show that you listen to the guitar first and have no pre-perceived prejudices
Glad you are starting to bond with it

Lots of people seem to like tiger stripes, but there’s undeniable beauty in a plain maple cap. Mine’s got a similar top.

    Congratulations.

Im the same. My love came from seeing Slash with a plain in early 90s. I get the beauty of a subtle R9, but plain top R8 or R0s is where its at for inspration.
