No no no no no.....  poetry is wonderful.  Assembling any old shit into a set format and going "Oooh! Look at my Haiku!" is like painting by numbers or completing a sudoku puzzle.
Unless the Haiku contains poetry, its only value is mathematical.

One could argue the point that it isnt haiku unless spoken (written) in Japanese and follows the traditional aspects of true haiku whilst being accompanied by a larger poem.
Then again one could also argue that any form of haiku is a form of art and therefore subjective, it will however , if viewed with scrutiny, purvey the abilities of its creator in the sense of understanding and emotional expression in the form of writing.

Dont let it bother you Emp, you dont have to look at a painting if you cant appreciate it, or if it contains nothing to be appreciated.

Edit - I dont think Yeats was writing about actual faries either, thats a very simplistic idea of a very complex piece of work.

Rhyme and meter make not a
Poem.  Meaningless.

But Shakespearean
Emphasis on meter and
Rhyme is no less base.

Structured expression
