I have met him, once, and only very briefly, at Monsters of Rock, Castle Donington in 1980 or 1981. 
I was with my friend Hugh Blackwood (a big Uriah Heep fan) and we noticed that Mick was standing about 10 feet away, on his own, just watching the band on stage.  He is very small and he was wearing yellow wellies and a yellow anorak with a hood (it was raining, which means it was probably 1981).  We went over and had a chat, he was super nice and friendly.
