Are search engines dumming us down?

^ I think Google engineers heard the term 'Fuzzy Logic' & interpreted it as meaning 'fluffy results roughly in the general area'.

I haven't tried them, but there are other search engines like Startpage and Yandex.

When I think of all the quite complex diy stuff Google and I have successfully completed over the last few years I would have to say no it isn't dumbing us all down.

I dont want to DL it if it decides to bring up dodgy stuff,is it just a normal browser or is it designed to access dodgy sites?

Read the site information, "Protect yourself against tracking, surveillance, and censorship".
It isn't for everyone & many 'normal' websites just won't work properly as they they are so optimised to maximise the advertising & tracking aspects, rather than just the information discovery that you (& I ) want.
It isn't illegal, or a magic bullet, just another tool. I'd rather have it than not. YMMV
