Kluson Aluminium block on a Callaham Tremolo?

I have a Callaham vintage strat set, and I'd to replace the Callaham block with a Kluson Aluminium block.

Callaham:

  • STRING SPACING:2-7/32" (2.219" / 56.4MM)
  • SCREW SPACING: 2-7/32" (2.219" / 56.4MM)
  • Enhanced Vintage block, w/ 10-32 Thread

Kluson:

  • String Spacing: 2 7/32 in.

String spacing seems correct, but are there any potential compatibility issues or will the block fit? I tried emailing Callaham to ask about compatibility, but they responded that they don't know.

Thanks!

The string hole spacing matches between the two brands but the other holes might not. e.g. The three block fastening holes and, most critically of all, the arm hole - both for position and angle.

Whenever aluminium and steel meet, the hardness difference brings the possibility of screw threads being stripped.

If you use a Kluson block, you should probably use a Kluson arm.

I doubt that the Callaham "virtual push-in" arm thread arrangement fits the block of any other brand.

I have a spare arm, so that's not a concern.

Will the screw threads getting stripped have any negative functional impact?

Also, how do I check if the fastening holes align?
