Fretting with cut finger

So I cut a finger of my fretting hand with a Stanley knife. Not too deep or worrying, except that it is right on the spot where I fret strings, and at an angle where I seem to catch the string along the length of the cut - OUCH!!

So what do you do? Plaster? Any particular type that works well for playing? I made do with a bit of duct tape at rehearsal yesterday but it wasn’t great. I have a gig on Friday so need to find something.

I've always used Micropore medical tape. Wrapped around the finger maybe a couple of times, over the fingertip and back around if the cut's on the tip - I've found it's thin enough to allow some degree of 'feel' for what your trying to fret. It would get a little chewed up through playing but would last for an average gig.

If the cut's quite open, a small square of tissue directly over the cut helps, then Micropore over thaat.

I found the thin roll is best.

I had something similar with a chemical burn on my third finger. A nurse advised against superglue because it is hard, and doesn’t flex. Consequently it could crack, or tear skin, making matters worse. Instead she showed me how to use micropore tape wrapped around my finger for support, with a separate strip which passed over the finger end, and anchored on the wraps. The strip lasted about three songs before it needed replacing, which gave our singer something to talk about. I kept a roll of tape, and a pair of scissors, on top of my amp.
