I had a Stagg Amplifier Monitor Stand (gave it away to a member here to help with young kids learning music).
They're pretty cheap & do the job.

A block of wood sounds smart too though, probably maintain the connection with the stage better if you like that reinforcing the low end a bit.
I got one of these following your recommendation after reading this thread. It's really good! It's a lot more stable than it looks in the pictures, is adjustable over three possible angles and folds up nicely. Thanks for that!
