Wondering about FTT SOV2 pedal to push Morgan amp from clean into break up - tried some others but now I have this amp and not EL84 type, it's all changed! Got a great tube screamer pedal so think FTT sov2 would be a good basic
Gain stage before that. Shops 200+ miles away and can't compare some as they are at different shops anyway.
Any thoughts/ideas/ thanks
Jon

Wouldn't an attenuator be the best option?

To push and amp into break up you need a booster really (less gain more volume) But on the OD side of things I think there are cheaper alternatives to the FTT SOV-2... the Rockett Blue Note, Wampler Ecstasy, Mad Professor Simble, Xotic AC booster and Barber Small Fry all come to mind for that smooth mid gain sound.

If you want the amp to give your drive at low volume, maybe something like an MXR Microamp into the front would do what you want/need/like.

IE no gain, just boost the signal into the front, for some extra dirt.

I don't think the sov is the right one for this I have the SOV2 and the original Matt Schofield one and they are over drive pedals, they push the amp sure but they add over drive too. If you want to push your amp this isn't the right pedal and it's also an expensive solution.

Keeley Katana works great for this and I use it with a very similar amp.

they will all push your apm MUCH better than a sov and they are a lot cheaper.

The bob burt clean boost is by far the best clean boost I've ever used, lower the volume on your amp and use the boost to push it - works great.

the SOV is a super pedal, but it is overdrive and will add it's voice as it pushes your amp, the solutions above won't do it and you'll get a good return on your amps natural sound.

Yeah, you need a boost. I run an Xotic RC into my Ceriatone OTS. Works great
