Staggered Pole Pieces - left handed

What's Hot
If I’m installing staggered pole pickups in a left handed guitar (I know you can get left handed ones, but I’ve got standard righty ones), can I/should I install them upside down? Or will it not make a lot of difference?

If they’re ’vintage’ stagger with the high G pole I would install them the RH way round, since that will help lessen the over-sensitive clangy G slightly.

It completely baffles me why they’re still used or thought desirable when almost no-one uses a wound G these days.
