If you buy the pointy Gibson, your bandmates will nickname you Dora.

    Just needs a white guard…
Completely agree. And gold speed knobs.
I prefer the black guard but BLACK speed knobs would be an improvement. Or maybe witch hats?

    No white guard.

    Needs black hardware and pickups.

I’m so bored I might as well be listening to Pink Floyd

It’s as if you lot have never seen a proper 76 explorer before…

Knackered gold hardware, white guard, black headstock. It’s the only combination that looks right. And this one is especially great because it doesn’t have the usual daft yellow korina finish

When you describe a guitar like that I think of one person.  Although the guitar specs don't match exactly.

Anyway, you should buy it.  But keep the black scratchplate.

I had an 83 reissue of the 76.

White, gold hardware. Massive Massive Heavy Heavy case.

Proper explorers only come in 3 colours:

1: All black inc plate. Everything.
2: White, white plate, gold or chrome hardware
3: a dark Natural. Black plate, black hardware, black pickups.

Black headstocks on all of them.

    Everything else is wrong.

Ha, there you go.  I thought of Rickey Medlocke, The Edge never even crossed my mind.  :3

Black scratchplate still looks better though.

The Explorer is yet another guitar that'd look best in sparkly blue. Or maybe green.

    Bingo!

These are probably a little darker (officially “walnut”) but it’s way better than the trad 58 korina yellow.

This one’s in Guitar Village and I’m in London for the next 5 days potentially with some free afternoons. Am highly tempted to go see it…

Tbh I’d be perfectly happy with a cheaper one but they don’t come up often in natural with nice looking wood. And the blunter pointy bit of the 58 is actually a better recreation of the original 76 shape than the modern 76

Yeah I had an epiphone version and that's exactly how it looked. Bought it new and the gold hardware tarnished within months. It looked ace and was surprisingly ergonomic.

    Stupidly sold it.

It’s gorgeous and I wouldn’t change a thing, the black plate suits the darker wood IMHO
