Recommend me a treble booster?

Looking for something at the lower end of the price scale.

Happy with either silicon or germanium. Flexibility beyond the regular Rangemaster controls would be appreciated.

If you're handy with a soldering iron, they're cheap and easy to make.

Fuzzdog ( https://shop.pedalparts.co.uk/ ) has a bunch of options from very simple to the tweakable Hot Snake (Catalinbread Naga Viper clone) -  which is still a very straightforward kit to build.

I’d look for Camelfish on eBay, they’re UK-based and knock out decent treble boosters.

I’ve got an old Keeley Java boost & it does the job perfectly.

Always fancied a beano boost although I’ve never tried one.

I’m just about to put my Catalinbread Naga Viper on the classifieds if that’s of interest? Looking for £80 delivered

What has prompted this is that I built a May 83, which is going to be installed into my Jazzmaster.

It’s currently boxed up and I like it so much I think I need a standalone unit. I’m using it with guitars that have the G&L passive treble and bass tone controls so I can roll off some low end, which cleans it up in a different way from rolling back the volume.

If you’re looking for vintage I still have an Electro Harmonix 70’s screaming tree for sale in the classifieds. Happy to come down a bit on price.

How cheap? Websmurfer's one on Ebay is really good and (if no-one else bids) is around £30. Germanium- but no extra controls.

I haven't tried it but (again on Ebay) DopeFX does a clone of the Naga Viper (silicon, more controls) for about £50.

Apparently it’s not a traditional treble booster but rather a modded TC Spark.

I pulled the trigger on one of these https://drunk-beaver.rocks/products/hoverla

Not the cheapest but not at the upper end of things either with some useful/different features and a rarity factor.

    Where did you hear that?

Unless Laney are not telling the truth it's meant to be a treble booster circuit.

Well that's very interesting and naughty from Laney.

It's still a bloody good pedal and I had a 4 knob Spark for a number of years which I always liked (Although not both at the same time)

I did have a couple of other treble boosters at the same time as the Laney and got rid of them because I preferred the Laney so take that as you will.

I second the Fuzzdog suggestion. I built the Naga Viper (called Hot Snake) and the DAM Red Rooster (Crimson Cockerel).

I prefer the RR but both are easy builds and sound great. I'd definitely go with something with a Range control, which can retain a bit more body but still do the treble booster thing.

This is a very cool pedal, sounds great and plays great either before or after other pedals thanks to the pickup sim. It makes nearly every other other dirt pedal sound better.
