Our double bass player uses a pickup and is looking for a good D.I. pedal.

Would this work?

Yes, it would work but the results might be sub-optimal.

The ToneDeq is designed for use with an electro-acoustic guitar. Its EQ band centre frequencies will be one octave too high for an upright bass.

Given the prodigious low end involved, it would be wiser to obtain a specialist bass processor.

An electric bass guitar amplifier head with a D.I. output might suffice. tc electronic used to illustrate some of their endorsees playing upright through an RH/RS rig.

Thanks.  From our starting point it might still be ok, it's a crazy good deal, and I'm sure the multi-instrumentalist banjo/dobro/violin/mandolin/guitar player would happily take it off the bassist's hands if it doesn't work for her......£60!

We're basically talking double bass > pickup > preamp > PA   So far we've tried through my Joyo American Sound pedal and it wasn't bad....
