Just posting this because I'm surprised that nobody has seen fit to mention the thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts who turned out to pay tribute.

A heart-warming story amongst all the other crap that is going on in the world.
You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.

Si King posted a video thanking people. Almost speechless at one point. Understandably .

I think it was a wonderful tribute to a true gentleman, and I was especially pleased that the police commented on how good-natured it was, instead of moaning about what an obstruction it caused.

I never met the bloke, but he seemed like a very nice chap. Lovely to see so many turnout to express the love.  Not many people leave such a positive mark on the world.

According to Mrs RSV, 20,000 took part resulting in a 16 mile convoy!

There are some videos on YouTube.  There is one at the start when they are all still riding together before they get split up by traffic.  It's about 10 minutes long despite the video being sped up in places, and they still hadn't all passed.

A touching tribute & an awesome turnout.
I can't work out how the hell they managed to co-ordinate it all, particularly sorting such minor matters as getting refuelled...
    Very impressive.

I won an award that was presented by Dave and Si - They came to chat during the evening and they were both as lovely as you'd expect. Real shame.

It was amazing, I live in the middle of nowhere in Lancashire and we decided to go a few miles down the road to wave and watch from the M6 bridge, couldn't believe just how many people were there. Amazing turnout and we got to wave at Si on his Harley. What a day for those taking part on the ride.

I was planning on joining the ride for bit at the national motorcycle museum but sadly couldn't make it.

There's a short item from BBC News on iPlayer at the moment:
