Hey, there. I have a Standard Telephones & Cables (STC) 4106 wide range cardioid, as per https://coutant.org/stc/4106/4106.pdf
Condition is as might be expected for a mic dating back to the 60s and rescued from a London studio in the 90s. It's scratched here and there and there is a coloured mark on it. But, overall, it's actually in pretty good condition. The cable feeds directly into the microphone with no socket or casing at the bottom (terminates in a TS plug).
It still works superbly. Low impedance (30 ohms) so it enjoys a little gain, but it's beautifully rich in tone and has a dream response curve for cabs. or close micing.
From what I've learned, it's quite a rare model (with a couple of units in the Science Museum). Marco C. van der Hoeven, author of "Witnesses of Words: How 20th Century Microphones Made History" wrote that it was "by far the best sounding dynamic cardioid the company ever produced". (https://www.vintagemicworld.com/html/Mic%20of%20the%20month%20May%202021-STC%204106%20vintage%20dynamic.html).
Shuta Shinoda (Hot Chip, Ghostpoet, Fibs, Anna Meridith) uses one at Hackney Road Studios (https://www.shutashinoda.co.uk/studios) and I'm pretty sure there's one at Toerag, too - they definitely used a 4038 and a 4021 to record The White Stripes 'Elephant' there.
