Pretty wild.
Apparently made by a chap called Danny Ferrington who had built custom guitars for the George Harrison, Johnny Cash and even Kurt Cobain.
That deep body really sets it off. (the guitar I mean)

Like all Explorers it would look better without the hockey-stick headstock, but the body is very cool. Although sunburst is also not the right finish…

Kramer did a Ferrington acoustic in the 80’s. Strat shaped, pointy headstock. I always thought they looked cool (but sounded shit)

I’ve got a red Kramer Ferrington in Tele shape.
I bought it in 92 from a shop in Plymouth down by the Barbican.
it has an excellent electric neck. For years I played it just as a a finger picking acoustic and it was/is really quite good for that.  It has a typical 90s acoustic “quack” if plugged in so it really can do with EQ and reverb when played live,

good fun though. looks good on the wall :)

I have the Ferrington Guitars book ...interesting guy
The Kramer ones were pretty much trash and don't really deserve to be associated with Danny
Kramer were already heading into a death spiral by he time they took on that brand even though they struggled on till the early 90s

    It has to be asked.........why?!

As for the top picture that started the thread, I must admit I never liked those engraved pick guards on that odd shaped guitar he's playing...

If you ever see the remake of The Ladykillers all the weird instruments they were playing like the theorbo and harpolyre were built by Danny Ferrington. Copies of rare vintage instruments I think.

That may be the first recommendation I've seen for watching the Ladykillers remake.

As for the guitar, I quite likes it. More than the recent Fender offerings which it appears to have inspired, though they probably sound better. Not so keen on the V and the blinged up Explorer.
Ten years too late and still getting it wrong

It's asking a lot to sit through that film again just to see a few stringed instruments...
