Dots or not?

What's Hot
Can’t decide. I’ll do side dots but was thinking maybe just something (tbc) at the 12th fret. Hmmm…

    Do something different. Dots on frets 2, 4, 6, 8, 11, etc. ;)

Great looking guitar by the way.
For me fretmarkers depends on the body finish. Plain body, I'd prefer something better than just dots.
Translucent or flame body, i like pearl dots so as not to detract from the body finish.

But I wouldn't leave that fretboard blank. Just wouldn't look right to me.

As much as I like the clean look of no dots, I miss then to the extent that Ive used dot stickers where there are none…So I would go with some sort of markers if it were me

    Offset dots?

Or bars maybe. I used to do two bars on the 12th fret. Enough to not get lost, but doesn't take away from the fretboard.

12th fret markers would work well

You build enough guitars by hand, and you will do it at some point.

I’d pass on the dots personally. If they are on the side, I’d keep the board clean and sharp.

First guitar I made was a Tele and I put a fret marker for the first fret without thinking and felt like a bit of a wally. It plays bloody well though.

Side dots are for you. Fretboard dots are unnecessary. The neck looks better without them.

Nice looking guitar! If you can see the fretboard markers you aren't holding it right. Completely useless bling.

Which is not to say that a nice decorative bit of MOP shouldn't  find its way onto the fretboard if you want to bling it up. A 12th fret something maybe. Or put it on the 11th fret just to do people's heads in.

always prefer the naked wood, with just side dots, looks so much cleaner

I did it with CAD and a CNC machine once.
