Well, they're little things that might be considered inconsequential, at least. Hardly 'When I wipe the floor with an opponent at tennis!' or 'When I nail a song perfectly on the guitar'!

The sound and feel of a straight six under "enthusiastic" driving conditions.

There is no 'H' in Aych, you know that don't you? ~ Wife

Turns out there is an H in Haych! ~ Sporky

    Bit of trading feedback here.

The sound a wood plane makes when fettled to take a thin shaving of maple.

    The smell of baking bread.

Cracking open a bottle of home brew cider and hearing the 'tshhhhh' of escaping gas.

We have an item of equipment at work (it looks like a robotic arm) to hold limbs in position for certain orthopaedic ops. It is multi-jointed and mechanical, with a trigger release. Pull the trigger and the various joints are released, allowing you to position it with ease. Relax the trigger and it locks in place absolutely. Beautiful engineering.

I have a few Famag lip'n'spur drill bits that cut beautifully.

When i make coffee for my morning commute and the strength is *just* right.

These are a few of my favourite things.

Yeah, that's nice.  It doesn't happen very often in London.

(Edit:  If that sounds sarcastic, it wasn't meant to.  It genuinely is nice.)

Farts are hugely underrated. I can’t imagine life without farts, they are so important to me.

My friend has never heard his wife fart, ever. I find this very sad as I think they are missing out so much.

My favourite fart is when my missus does one in the bath and I can hear it downstairs as it echoes through the floorboards.

    This thread.

I was lying awake last night (just for a few minutes before I rolled over and went back to sleep) thinking about the other thread and how I should start one for the opposite. (I.e., this thread.)

Got up this morning and here it is!

PS: I had three or four good little examples for it in mind. Now I can't remember any of them.

It really is, and it's something that struck me about Miami when I first moved here. Those times when I (sort of) accidentally met eyes with people in the supermarket or other places, I noticed people often smiling at me, and I really liked it. I wasn't used to it from other places I'd lived.

The opening mechanisms of shampoo bottles, specifically the ones with flip top lids. A disposable item, but has to work 100% of it's life with repeated cyclic fatigue applied but also cheap and simple to manufacture. An elegant solution to an engineering problem that pleases me when I see it. Coke cans have a similar effect.

    I don't get out much.
