Supro 1675rt Rhythm Master £650

A really interesting amp that offers a lot of tonal options within its big, rich 6L6 character. I’ve had it for a year now, which is an eternity here and it wouldn’t be going anywhere if it wasn’t my Americana coming back from an extended tour with themarlin.

At its heart, it’s a US built amp with 6L6s, trem and reverb. So obviously from a Fenderish part of the book but it does have its own Supro voice. Being a 1x15 in an oversize cab, it has a huge round and mellow tone that it retains even when pushed into breakup and beyond.

  • CIRCUIT TYPE: All-tube Supro Circuit
  • WATTAGE: Switchable Class-A (35 Watts) or Class-AB (45/60 Watts)
  • PREAMP TUBES: 4x 12AX7, 1x 12AT7
  • POWER TUBES: 2x 5881/6L6
  • SPEAKERS: 1 x 15” Supro TB15
  • CHANNELS: Single Channel with Bass and Treble Controls
  • TREMOLO: Yes, foot-switchable
  • REVERB: Yes, foot-switchable
  • CABINET DIMENSIONS: 23 5/8” x 19” x 10 1/2” (60 x 41 x 27 cm)
  • WEIGHT: 52 lbs (24kg)
  • TOLEX: Blue Rhino Hide tolex
  • ASSEMBLED IN: New York, USA
The power options here do much more than than just alter your output volume. The 35 watt setting put the amp in class A config, this earlier break up, the most sag and saturation and the cathode bias trem is soft and wavy. Move up to the 45 watt click and you’re now class AB, less sag and a little more headroom and the grid bias tremolo is sharper edged and much more defined. On to the 60 watt and still class AB and grid bias, now with a solid state rectifier which tightens up the amp and gives the most headroom.

I’ve had it hooked up with the Webber Mini Mass attenuator and it copes as well as any amp does being watered down and strangled.

Yup. I wasn’t aware there was a solid state too until I started reading up on the facts again today. The only place I’ve seen it mentioned is in the manual.

I have one of these and honestly they sound immense. Amazing cleans, and sounds so chewy when wound up. Don't be deterred by the 1x15 as it's got plenty of high end. I have a 1x12 cab with a different eminence and honestly the 1x15 sounds much brighter

Thanks Slunky, it really is a great sounding thing.

Everyone should at the very least tick a 15” combo off the list once.
