The Bends was basically the perfect album. Thematically consistent, and not a single skip track on it.

Sadly, the success went to their heads, which promptly disappeared up their own backsides...and then they released OK Computer. As far as I'm concerned, it was basically made up of all the skip tracks that were missing from The Bends.

I was unimpressed from that point forwards.

Kid A and In Rainbows are the best ones for me. The Bends sounds dated now, but the songs are cracking obviously. King of Limbs is a real grower too.

The Bends is great long journey music. OK Computer makes me cry. I didn't bother after that.

Kid A, OK Computer, In Rainbows - all perfect.

The Bends is a great 90s rock album but not as good as the above. Though Street Spirit & Fake Plastic Trees are among their best work, and Just & Black Star are ace

HTTT, Amnesiac and both almost perfect and I love them very dearly.

A Moon Shaped Pool and King of Limbs need me to be the right mood. KOL was much better live, as are a lot of their records. I never saw the AMSP tour so not sure how those went across.

Pablo Honey is a meh album with a couple of good songs and Creep is excellent but also overrated.

My absolute favourite band. But that doesn't mean I like all their stuff...

    For me (today at least)

    OK Computer
    In Rainbows
    Hail To The Thief
    The Bends
    Kid A
    A Moon Shaped Pool
    Amnesiac
    Pablo Honey
    The King of Limbs

I probably like In Rainbows more than OK Computer now but OK Computer had such a massive effect on me it has to be at the top.
    HTTT is underrated.
Pablo Honey never really hooked me and as for TKoL, well I've never managed to gel with it.

The decent engineer had left by then to work on something else a bit different.

Not listened for years to Radiohead, Pablo Honey yh good, Bends, OK computer brilliant. Kid A I simple didn't get when it came out, listened 4, 5, 6 time and no, left me completely cold, not for me. Couple of years later, put it on dozing on sofa; wow amazing album. I'll have to get them on again

Kid A sent me on a 20 year journey of trying to discern what Radiohead have done with choruses.

I’m still 50/50 about the whole of OK Computer though, so probably not the best judge of their later work.
I had EHX polyphase chorus, I'm sure it's all over over OK computer, and Nirvana In Utereo.

Funnily enough I’ve listened to the last two Radiohead albums this afternoon.

    A Light ForAttracting Attention
     Wall Of Eyes

Jonny and Thom are still killing it with Tom Skinner.

I’ve tried but I just don’t get The Smile. Am I just on the wrong drugs?

Dunno, old chap. I really like them and think their work could be the natural continuation from In Rainbows. Interesting time signatures, much more organic drumming than Selway and beautifully recorded. Best on decent amp and headphones.

Maybe I’ll try The Smile again when I feel the mood. I’m not saying it’s bad per se, just doesn’t click for me.

Whereas a really like a lot of Yorke’s solo stuff - Anima in particular is gorgeou

Erm, what recent news on Jonny G?

Hail to the Thief is my fave and have not nor never will listen to Moon Shaped Pool
That’s a shame, I think you’re potentially missing out on at least one of their best songs.

Daydreaming stands up to anything else in their catalogue and Burn The Witch isn’t far off.

I think The Bends was perfect and released at the perfect time, timing is everything, it was just right for the times.
The rest of their stuff isnt my cuppa tea though, I listen to it but the impact just wasnt there as much as The Bends.

    The Bends

I think people who like Radiohead fall into three camps.

One, they like everything they do.
Two, they prefer the guitar based stuff much more than the electronica stuff.
Three, they prefer the electronica stuff more than the guitar stuff.

Personally I fall into one. The Bends was excellent but the stuff they did with synths and drum machines after that was phenomenal and really separated them from the other bands of their peer group.
