Getting a bit bored with my collection of open mic songs

pkayed lots of Ralph McTell, Simon & Garfunkel, James Taylor, John Prine, etc fingerpicking and strumming

instead of Spotify algorithms, I thought I’d ask for suggestions from the algorithm of FB members’ ideas

so, some wild and wacky suggestions for acoustic/singer please - suggestions gratefully received

Jason Isbell (look for the acoustic stuff; Cover Me Up, If We Were Vampires, Elephant, Flagship, Travelling Alone)
Death Cab for Cutie (I Will Follow You Into the Dark is incredible, and most of Asphalt Meadows, which is a phenomenal record)
Bon Iver (some gorgeous acoustic things amongst the electronica - check out the For Emma... record plus Marion, Holocene, Towers, 29 Strafford APTS)
Phoebe Bridgers / Boygenius (lots of open tunings inc baritone open tunings as well)
    Justin Townes Earle
    Fionn Regan
    Ian Noe

Also Ryan Adams, though he's a bit of a messed up dude, he's written song incredible songs - basically everything off Heartbreaker, Gold, Love is Hell and Cold Roses is brilliant.

RHCPs wet sand or black summer are both nice.
The La’s Feelin is really nice song.
Lenonheads shame about ray or into your arms.
Radiohead, black star, high and dry, fake plastic trees.

Taylor Swift (seriously - see how long it takes people to twig)

Agreed. If I ever do open mics i usually do acoustic versions of either pop or rock/metal and the reaction is great. I hate when open mics are a guess what's coming next of acoustic cliches

Here's a very rough recording I made of Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne using a fake acoustic patch on a Boss GT (credit to Puddles the clown)

Listen to Crazy Train by TheFlyingPie on #SoundCloud

Travis also do an acoustic version of Hit Me Baby One More Time by Britney Spears which goes down a treat when people are drunk enough

  • Karl Wallinger/World Party recorded plenty of songs that might fit the bill.
I'll get a round to buying a 'real' guitar one day.
