EZDrummer 2 add on packs? I want really dry drums.

What's Hot
I’m looking for drum sounds that are very dry, like old funk records.
Including when there’s been a towel over the snare.

Super tight and dry.

Anyone know which EZD2 expansion would do that?

ta.

I’m so bored I might as well be listening to Pink Floyd

Ez drummer 2 is a sampler and you can put in most brands midi packs through it - doesn't need to be a Toontrack expansion.
Saying that, there is the funk midi from toontrack which sounds pretty good..
Yurt has some funk stuff - not tried them before though.

From my out of date knowledge, there is the Funkmasters pack, and Southern Soul.

Doesn't Superior Drummer come with more flexibility for this?
Ten years too late and still getting it wrong

I like the Vinyl Drums From Mars pack for that sort of sound, might be worth a look

I have the UK Pop pack and that has a dry sound. I’ve worked with Ash Soan, the drummer who made the pack and I’m pretty sure he said he used a towel on the snare. It certainly gets his deep detuned snare sound

@fretmeister - Have you considered upgrading to EZD3 instead?  It has a stock dry room and a kit with the towel over the snare.  The benefits of upgrading are many - pretty much everything is improved.  I love it.  It's only 99EUR to upgrade.

    That sounds promising, thank you.

I thought it was more expensive.

That changes things - 2 expansions or upgrade for a little less.

I had assumed that currently available Expansion Packs only worked with EZD3 - apparently not. I've got EZD2 and have procrastinated over upgrading.

Oh, so EZD3 packs work with EZD2?  I thought newer packs needed V3?

    @fretmeister what did you decide?

The EdZ 70s drums pack has a very dry kit amongst others. It does it very well. I think there’s a dead room one and also a ‘tea towel’ one.

UK Pop is one of the best expansions and excels at dry drums. Ash smashed it out the park with that one.

I agree with the EZ Drummer 3 upgrade - the new included kits cover that territory very well and it’s a big step up from EZ Drummer 2 overall.

Personally I never end up using the oldest expansions (70’s and Funkmeister etc), even though they technically tick that box. They’ve just gotten so much better with their expansions over time and it’s reflected in the sizes of the newer packs.
