MIDI controller with a USB host

I'm thinking about bass synth pedals.

The two most interesting candidates are the Future Impact and the Source Audio C4.

They both are inevitably fiddly if you use the onboard controls.  I'd like to do patch changes and so on with a midi controller.

The Future Impact has MIDI io on standard DIN sockets.  So far so good.  But the C4 seems to have a more active community creating patches. (Is that perception correct?)

The C4 has to be controlled by a device that can be a USB MIDI hub.  OK a laptop would do it, but do you know of any MIDI controllers that can be USB hubs? The ones I have seem to be USB clients only.

I'm thinking the combination of that and a C4 makes the Future Impact look like a bargain!

The Morningstar MC6 Pro can be a USB host as well as a USB device. In fact, so far, it looks like it can be anything it wants to be... (It's very good).
