For this little beauty- the Bonamassa amp in a box pedal...a cool £500

My mate just got one and waiting on his thoughts.

  • I'd be more inclined to go for an Ethos myself. For that money you could get the powered version as well as them having an emulated out.

  • After having watched that film about what Van Wilder got up to at college there is no way I'd be buying one of his pedals.

I'm also keen to understand if the Royal thing is 'by appointment' or is an unauthorised trademark violation?

The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

  • Nothing says blues authenticity more than a horribly expensive overdrive pedal.

  • it looks like a Palisades with less options and a bigger price tag.

  • Is it a mosfet preamp?

There is an eBay company that does a transistorised jtm and jcm in a box pedals with less features than this for around 1/4 of the price. Not saying they're any good, no one will try them because it's not American and endorsed by (insert name here) but could give a similar sort of vibe. I'm assuming it's a Marshally sounding box, anyway?

I reckon if you've got the cash to drop on a pedal like this you will have the cash to drop on an amp that doesn't need an OD pedal in front of it. But then would you be missing out on "subtle shades"?
