A few days ago, my trusty19" monitor of about 9 years started taking its time to light up. No sign of the BIOS screen, and about another 2 minutes after the Windows login appears, before it would activate. Same when coming out of power save mode. I decided it was time to replace it and got a 24"Acer from PC World. The old one was 1280x1024 and the new one is 1920x1080. Physical height of the display area is the same at12",but the Acer is 50% wider. Streamed F1 looks amazing, and Sonar now has loads of room for the track settings and notes/recordings panes.

Just wanted to gush. :)

Aye, and only 120 quid. The old one cost about 210, I think.

  • I still refuse to buy modern 16:9 monitors. Don't know about anybody else, but I need vertical resolution...past a certain point, I don't really care about how wide it is. In that respect, a 1920x1080 monitor isn't really any more helpful than a 1680x1050 monitor, and only marginally more so than 1280x1024.

I have, however, recently picked up a 24" LG 1920x1200 monitor. Heaven.
