  • give 'em time, they'll sort themselves out. matey here at work his mum keeps chickens, they stopped laying for a bit but some of them have started again now.

Seriously: If you value it, take/fetch it yourself

  • Chicken soup is a nice warm comforting meal at this time of year.

I'm sure the threat of it is enough to persuade a hen to start laying ...

I thought this was gonna be one of those "I live next door to some w***ers who have chickens in their back garden" threads

I have them at the house over the road - noisiest, most infuriating, least time aware cockerel I have ever had the displeasure to know.............and there's some out the back of my house who are the quietest most content hens I've ever had the pleasure to live beside.

Mind you......late night last weekend, I saw a very happy looking fox in rude health trotting up the street.

    The neighbourhood's looking up!

this is the first time they have all stopped, been lucky I guess as the past 2 winters we have still had layers..

not happy about getting an egg from an egg box as opposed to a nest box.

yeah would never have a cockerel, in fact being in a City we are not allowed. you always see them 'free to a good home' on poultry forum which indicates how bloody annoying they are.

a cockerel is far less annoying than the neighbour with the noisy zorst on his bmw.

next you'll be complaining if an owl hoots while you're awake

we had one a few weeks ago that wasn't going to make it so the wife went out and snapped the neck.. well I got a pretty dirty look when I asked if it was heading for the oven..

I now know not to mention such things.

Owl hoots are a delight......lovely to hear 'em call & answer...........this cockerel thinks he's king d1ck of the 'hood by the sounds of it.

I can tolerate animal noise (cows mooing, sheep baaing, owls hooting, even cocks crowing), or water noise (the sea, or a river flow) but it's man-made noise that prevents or disturbs my sleep
