Making a combo in to a head

Well the SL5 thread has got me wondering what is involved in making it in to a head and cab arrangement.

I like having heads as 1) gives options on the fly of what speaker you want to use and b) they just look cool.

So other than getting an empty head cabinet made that it would fit in to, what else is there to consider?

I did the same to my marshall jubillee.  Roadkill cabs made me the headshell  (nice quality and less than £100)  It's a great idea and give you the flexibilty of using it as a head if you like the sound the amp.

So any complications I should be aware of?

Ventilation and position of the reverb tank if it has one are the only two really.

As long as you leave enough space for both hot air to get out and cool air to get in - ie don't leave a vent at the top only, that won't really work - the ventilation should be fine.

The reverb tank needs to be kept in the same orientation as before and usually as far away from the power transformer as possible, or it can pick up hum.

So it's as straight forward as it sounds then? Cheers mate, I was hoping you'd answer.
