That's it, my GAS is basically over. I'm done, put a fork in etc.

Anybody want to hazard a guess as to what did it?

  • I'm actually slightly offended at that, @Paul_C.

OK, it's one of these (OK, I already had this lying around):

...one of these (in the loop):

    ...and one of these:

I've still got the Polytune, Mooer phaser and Boo Boost in front of the amp, on my pedalboard shelf with the X-11 taking up the whole front row.

I've just been through our whole set with patches I knocked up at lunchtime, and apart from one song every change is a single stomp. It's bloody awesome...it's improved my comfort level immensely, and it means I can use delay settings that are much more appropriate to each song (as well as reverb, which I never had before).

The only thing which bugs me a little is that I can't really use the whammy, pitch or compression in the G-Major 'cos it's in the loop (it sounds horrible). Then again, I didn't buy it for those effects anyway.

All in all...this has vastly improved my life. Now I just need a bit of velcro to keep the Control Switcher in place in the rack, and I'm all done. I don't think that counts as GAS.

It adds another gain stage or it gets the hose again.

Funnily enough...I've found that on the Decatone, I'm running the crunch channel's gain at 8 out of 11 and it's still hairier than the Jet City's crunch channel at full chat. Clearer, too (especially with the CV4004 preamp valves in it). It loves a boost, too.

Then again...another gain stage might be useful. Y'know, just in case.

  • How dare you come on a guitar forum pretending to have finished with GAS. Some of us are still suffering here!

This is my problem. I've got all the guitars I need (well, when my second one comes from Jaden), the Soldano is blatantly the last amp I ever need (except maybe another one for backup), and now my effects situation is sorted (I'm pretty sparing when it comes to effects).

I suppose I could fuck around with cables and stuff, but that's hardly GAS-worthy stuff.

  • Maybe it'll be time to actually use the stuff to be creative!

I've spent £800 on pedals in the last two weeks alone… I see an end in sight for pedals at least.

If you swap the ART for a Switch Dr you could have the Boo and the Mooer in patch switchable loops as well.

That was a basic part of my requirements from very early on, but I realised that it was a sticking point that was unnecessary. Those two are generally effects that I just switch in and out on their own to add sparkle or emphasis; they don't sit specifically in any particular patch, so adding them into the MIDI mix would actually add needless complexity I think.
