I'm in the process of a rejig. I'm going to swap the M9 for a Timeline, and adding either a Whammy V or an EHX pitchfork, which may be the subject of another thread. So, working as a consultant, I figured this calls for a powerpoint...

Its actually a bloody good way of working things out, especially when you don't own all the pedals in question. You can get all your pedals dimensions off the internet, and work out where they'll fit :) I've ended up with several different layout options...

I think this is my preferred, even though the Whammy takes up a silly amount of room.

That's impressive! I kinda hit and hope!!
My god that whammy 5 is huge! Didn't realise they were quite so big!

  • I've seen that before but tbh it's pretty clunky, and I'm not entirely convinced all their sizes are spot on.

Lol, yeah, I'm big on planning- that's half the fun!

You don't have much choice when trying to fit things on a smallish board, particularly when I haven't bought all the pedals yet and mail order is tricky!

  • I make paper cutouts of the pedals and then arrange them. Newspaper works fine. You have to be careful about the clearance required between them for patch leads.
"Working" software has only unobserved bugs. (Parroty Error: Pieces of Nine! Pieces of Nine!)
Seriously: If you value it, take/fetch it yourself

  • The pedalboardplanner.com site gets a lot of use from me, very helpful.

I've got a timeline for sale if you haven't already bought one, let me know if you're interested? :)

  • I already have one i'm afraid - it's the whammy/pitchfork and mxr chorus I don't yet have :D

Due to the whammys size I'm not sure you will be able to easily hit pedals placed behind it.

I had wondered that. The tuner would be fine but I think the MXR's switch might be a little low, even on the tilted PTJr. I can't do powerpoint in 3D though!!

  • @stickyfiddle are you heading back here any time soon? I might be selling my Micro Chorus ;-)

  • If you are using a pedal train then get a booster for the pedals behind the whammy, it raises them up.

Yeah you'll almost certainly need risers behind the whammy.

It really helps, raising them so they can stand on mountains

No, but my inlaws are coming out next month. Could send via them maybe if you want rid?

I do have a riser under the M9 at the moment, but I thin it's probably too big to fit above the Whammy. Might have to try it and use a bit of plywood if needed.

Get a board to fit the pedals.

    Problem solved!

I use real pedals, with masking tape on coffee table measuring out the size of the board.

Could you have the whammy off the main board?

Yeah, but they're bigger and not battery-friendly like a wah, so not so good. This is where the idea for the pitchfork option came from. that takes up less space than a Whammy and I could put the VPJr on the floor if I want. But it's EHX so inevitably shit build quality and I don't know how well it stands up by comparison, particularly for the octave-up mode used with an exp pedal!

    Any got one?
