Ah, ok. Is the alignment of the control plate something that will annoy you every time you look at it?

If it isn't, there is a bit of wiggle room provided your wiring around the pots is tidy, though you'll obviously need to dowel and redrill the control plate holes.

I think the grain is playing tricks on the eye.. as is the first photo the tail end seem inclined towards the body's edge whereas in the second photo it looks as though it's drifted towards the bridge.. (spooky)

There's not that much room for error with a Tele, and I'd be a bit disappointed if MJT can't get it right/lets it out the door without doing an easy fix to a supplied or acquired body.
