I guess we'll see once the pickguard and bridge are on.

The controls are straight. The rest of the body's on the piss.

Bridge on, two screws to hold, pull a piece of masking tape along it's side, make sure it's good & parallel. Don't need to stick it down, it'll show any wonkiness clearly. That's how I lined mine up.

  • I'm looking right at my tele here and it looks right to me.  The only thing that threw me off at first was the holes below it, but now I see they aren't screw holes.

I think it's the screw holes. Cavity seems to line up OK with plate off:

that 'top' screw is definitely in the wrong place.  Easy and invisible fix though.

Does look like it's the top screw hole as @Richardj rightly points out. Should be an easy fix. Nice jazz standard to pick there btw :)

My new year resolution, which I've started early, is to learn at least one jazz standard by heart per week - so far I've memorised "All The Things You Are", and am currently working on "What's New!". But that's a good one to add to the list, I found myself picking up a guitar and noodling through from your photo Loobs. :D

The pickguard will dictate where that end of the plate goes anyway

Use the piece of paper as a set square and check that the line of the string holes is at right angles to the control plate. If they are, it's fine.

I think the angle is photo illusion, since it's the *opposite* way in both pics - in the first pic the switch end of the plate looks too close to the strings, and in the second pic it's the other way round. They can't both be right.

Yeah, we'll see. Not a lot I can do here when all the hardware is in the UK.

    THANKS all for you help.
