Retired!  Finished at lunchtime today.  My manager came to mine and stripped me of my accoutrements (laptop and mobile) then took me out for lunch.

They put on a leaving do for me a couple of weeks ago, and there was cake:

    Thanks for the kind words, gents - it seems to have been a long time coming!

    @beed84 the slippers were extremely tasty - and the chops certainly need some work after all the time I wasted working instead of playing.

    @jd0272 I keep winding up Our Maud, telling her I'm going to blow the pension pot on a Jag - she says over her dead body, she wants a new kitchen...

    @holnrew as it happens, yes - my colleagues clubbed together and bought me a very nice Tissot Roma.  Not in the same league as some of the fabulous watches we've seen on here recently, but a lovely gift nevertheless.

    @Nitefly it is indeed me , I couldn't get on with the Mandolin either (my fingers are too clumpy I guess) . I've only started play guitar again this year after being a bassist for ages ! Hope you get to enjoy lots of playing during your retirement!

    Well done on the retirement. I'm nearly two years in and loving it. Not sure how I managed to fit work in tbh.
