I think he's using the EHX freeze pedal.  I don't know a lot about the pedals he's using so maybe someone else will know for definite..

I think my friend filmed this at s workshop on Italy a couple of years ago. Yes, that's an ehx freeze.

It's a cool thing to be able to sustain the chords and play over them like that anyhow, like that idea - damn, I'm trying to cut down on the pedals, almost wish I hadn't seen that.
