  • Hard to imagine someone like Joe Cocker would get a record deal now.

Clearly someone who made it on talent - a great interpreter.

I found out about this via Eric Clapton's Facebook feed - there's a great clip of Joe and Eric together in the '80s - with Chris Stainton (who was in the Grease band) looking exactly the same as he does now.

    RIP Joe.

I only know him for that Beatles cover, as the theme tune for The Wonder Years. Still sad though.
You mean you've never had to watch An Officer And A Gentleman?
I have not, but I know the song. Didn't know it was him. Did he also do I can't live if living is without you?

  • Check his version of Leave your hat on
He was also world champion in air guitar, air base and air drums. All displayed in his Woodstock performance

I have to admit I've never liked his voice, but he was a true legend and it's sad he's gone.

    RIP :(.

A great example of putting your demons behind you and the virtues of hard graft.

Joe Cocker was ace. He'd turn up and play in front of 200 people at the Boardwalk in town, not that long ago (when it was open, a sad loss indeed)

Great singer, great bloke. Local legend

I found 'With A Little Help From My Friends' (the album) among my mum's vinyl collection when I was little, and stuck it on because I knew the song off The Wonder Years - fantastic record, also features a young Jimmy Page. Listened to it hundreds of times. Bought it again on CD a few years ago and it's great, always takes me back.

    RIP Joe

Amen Joe Cocker. I saw him at Cornbury festival a few years back and he was a truly distinctive artist. I resolved to have another look at my Mad Dogs & Englishmen tour DVD over the holidays.
