Wassup folks, today my band Corolla released a new track, which you can check out here:

This one's been a few months in the making, as is explained in the YouTube description written by our frontman. This is the first release of ours that I've played guitar on, so I'm pretty excited about it and I hope you guys enjoy it.

As I haven't really said anything about us before on here, I'll give you a quick overview. The band's been going in various forms for a few years, and I joined, along with the drummer (whom I've known since primary school) about a year ago. Influences-wise it's pretty varied, but generally our biggest influences are alternative rock bands like Radiohead, the Smashing Pumpkins and Silversun Pickups. I love the music we're playing and I'm really enjoying being a part of it.

Nice work mate. Reminds me of 90s Idlewild and Placebo.

Placebo is another band we quote as an influence, so that's good! :D

Very good and I like it. I know this as I'll be giving it another listen tonight at volume when I'm getting drunk.

  • Nice! Intro is a bit long for me, and you have a silly name, but most bands do. Anyway, I like the song. Would definitely be keen to hear more :)

  • Can definitely see the Placebo influence, the guitar tone sounds really like something off "Without you I'm nothing", which is a great album btw.

    Facebook likes incoming.

How did you record the parts?

How did you record the parts?
The guitars were recorded at the drummer's place (he's a producer too) which is also where we often rehearse. Drums were initially MIDI, then I think we ended up doing live drums and also programming some electronic drums for certain parts (I'm a bit hazy on this - I wasn't involved in this bit!) Tony would have recorded the vocals in his own time, probably at home.

Then everything was pulled around for months, the structure was changed, bits were re-recorded, re-produced until eventually we hit on something that worked, then it was all sent off for mastering and here we are now. :D

It's not always this round-about, often a lot more straightforward, but this was a trickier one to get right. I'd hope we've managed it!
