chaos at kings cross

What's Hot
Not sure why the fuss. Ask any commuter, engineering works are always screwed up and commuters suffer this on a regular basis and no one seems to give a sh*#.
Oh and I only pay four grand a year for 40 year old trains...
Power of the media I suppose.

Depends on the trains, London commuter trains are relatively modern, and the IC225 sets are around 25 years old. The IEP trains will be running before 2020.

  • Ours are class 315 ,317 built in 1980 and are falling apart. There has been a complete lack if investment . A friend used to work at railtrack and he told me that they know the rail has poor foundations and can't cope. There is no money to invest , strange that sexy projects like HS3 ,etc can find it.

    Oh, fair enough.

The trouble is railways can't make money.

Given the fares that we pay, I don't see how they fail to make money.
Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

  • Tony is right, we travel on similar service . The usual argument is the trains run empty out of rush hour.
In can confirm ours do not. Any time of the day and at weekends they are fairly full.
Part of the problem is the compensation and fines for failure are too low.
I read that the kings cross contractor knew they would fail, but the fine was cheaper than bringing more staff in.

I think the only profit generating railway in the world is the Tokyo metro
